Privacy Policy - The Legacy Check

The short version
The Legacy Check does not collect, store, or save anything you enter. Your child's age and the results calculated from it exist only in your browser, for this one visit - nothing is written to a database, nothing is emailed to us, and nothing is retained after you close the page. We do run standard website analytics and advertising tracking tools (listed below) that collect general visit data, the same way most websites do.
What information we collect
From the calculator itself: nothing. The only input is a child's age. That age, and the job/wage/deduction results calculated from it, are processed for display purposes only and are never transmitted to a server for storage, saved to a database, logged, or associated with your identity in any way. If you close this page or refresh it, the results are gone - there is no account, no login, and no record kept.
From your visit to the site generally: standard analytics and advertising data. Like most websites, we use third-party tools to understand how the site is used and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the site (for example, from a Facebook or Instagram ad). We do not ask you to enter your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal contact information anywhere on this site.
Tools we use
We use Google Tag Manager to deploy and manage the following tools on this site:
- CookieYes - our consent management platform. This tool detects your location and presents a cookie-consent banner where required by law (for example, under GDPR or CCPA), and it manages which of the tools below are permitted to run based on your consent choices.
- Microsoft Clarity - session-recording and heatmap analytics. Clarity may record anonymized information about how you interact with this page (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling) to help us understand and improve the site's usability. Clarity does not receive the age you enter into the calculator as identifiable personal data.
- Meta Pixel - advertising and conversion tracking for our Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns. This tool helps us understand which ads led visitors to this page and may be used to show you related ads on Meta platforms in the future. See Meta's Privacy Policy for how Meta handles this data.
- Google Analytics - general website traffic and usage analytics, helping us understand how visitors use the site in aggregate.
None of these tools receive the specific age or calculation results you enter into The Legacy Check - that data stays in your browser only, as described above.
Cookies
This site uses cookies placed by the tools listed above (CookieYes, Clarity, Meta Pixel, Google Analytics), managed through our consent banner. You can control or withdraw your cookie consent at any time using the banner or your browser's cookie settings. Declining non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to use the calculator itself.
Children's privacy
The Legacy Check is a tool for business owners (adults) to estimate potential tax deductions related to employing their own children. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from children. No information about any child is entered, transmitted, or stored by this tool - only an age, processed transiently in your own browser.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add or remove a tracking tool. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
